Lower Layer Protocol Set

The lower layer protocol set were selected from the following points.

・The protocol must have a terminal interface currently used by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

・Protocols which are fit for the Network Model described in "PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT" page.
Protocols which handle the terminal interface used in the communication systems of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Protocols which can be applicable to the high-speed networks using optical fiber.

The following protocols were excluded.

・Protocol that was unable to handle a communication speed faster than several tens of kb/s.
・Protocol that could only be used in the conventional network configuration such as multipoint connections.
・Protocols used in the facsimile or voice communications over circuit switching network, whose interconnectability and interchangeability are already proven.

The chart below shows the lower layer protocol set.

In the chart, numbers A to H indicate the interfaces of the network model described in the section of Protocol Standard Development Method.
