Aiming to shift from a once-every-five-years survey system based on the National Road and Street Traffic Situation Survey to a new road traffic survey system based on continuous observation that makes full use of ICT in both normal situations and during disasters, we are conducting research aimed at developing measures of advanced and efficient road traffic survey that are conducted to understand road traffic conditions.
For example, we are conducting research on efficient and effective traffic survey methods, such as methods for understanding the starting and end points of automobile traffic and usage routes (OD traffic volume) using ETC 2.0 probe information and traffic volume observation methods using image recognition technology.
