(4) Measures for identifying the effects of road projects

Background of research

In addition to mitigating traffic congestion and reducing traffic accidents, road improvements have a wide variety of other effects, including enhancing driving comfort, improving roadside environments, securing alternative routes in the event of a disaster, expanding exchange opportunities, and increasing production, employment, and income associated with new locations. We are conducting research on methods for quantifying and calculating these various stock effects of roads (effects obtained continuously over the medium to long term through the functioning of developed social infrastructure).
