▶Outline of the division
The Standards and Accreditation System Division conducts investigations, research on building standards and certification systems, and helps facilitate general coordination with the MLIT.

▶Creating draft technical standards related to buildings
  1. The division is actively promoting the creation of draft technical standards which other divisions are working on, in cooperation with other divisions in the department, the headquarters of the MLIT and related organizations.
  2. Acting as a coordinator, the division is managing researches by doing supports like planning, monitoring and developing systems in collaboration with researchers so that the research outcomes are going to be smoothly reflected in the revision of building standards such as Building Standard Law.

Technologies are now under development to contribute to the establishment of design and construction technologies for mixed-structure buildings that mix wooden structures using large wooden panels, such as cross - laminated timber (CLT), and other structural types or other wooden structural types to respond to the need to promote the use of wooden materials, expand usability by effectively using the characteristics of wooden materials, shorten the construction period, and respond to the need to effectively use the designability of wooden materials.

The division maintains close links with the Independent Administrative Institution of the Building Research Institute, which also studies building technologies, in conducting international study activities.
