Summary Carbon footprint of shield tunneling method was estimated. CO2 emissions intensities of segment and shield tunneling machine were calculated based on field survey. The estimation suggested most of the CO2 is emitted from primary lining and shield machine manufacturing, and their emissions intensities are similar between different construction methods.
