Summary | This study aims to quantitatively clarify and analyze the physical, social and economical aspects related to renewal and non-renewal of old wooden houses in densely built-up areas, to gain basic material which will promote investigation of the appropriate direction to improve the areas. By nation-wide macro study of these areas during the first year, rebuilding rates for each area were estimated, and by case studies of 3 areas during the second year, the physical, social and economic conditions for rebuilt and unrebuilt buildings were clarified and statistically analyzed. |
