Summary | N2O is a greenhouse gas considered by experts to be 310 times more powerful in its atmospheric warming effect than carbon dioxide. N2O emission is estimated to be 8.7% (CO2 base) of total emission from wastewater treatment process. We studied the association of N2O emission with various SRT using by bench-scale nitrification reactors. Additionally, we measured N2O emitted from several wastewater treatment facilities. In the result, the treatment by long SRT (more than 7 days) and MBR suggested to be effective to inhibit N2O emission. |
