Summary In order to develop DNA tequnique for road environmental assessment, we identified Japanese hare iLepus brachyurusjindividuals, sex and parentage using fecal DNA. A study area was both sides on the Route 289 road kashi in Fukushima prefecture. We sampled 344 fecal pellets on the tracks of individuals and identified 36 individual hares i28 males and 8 femalesj were identified. As a result, it is estimated that four hares crossed between the both sides of road.
