Summary In this study, we have conducted surveys to clarify the benefits and challenges of the@education which uses river as a material. Results suggested that river, as an educational material, can stimulate children to have interest on the environment and other affirmative attitudes. Two points are important to make such education successful. One is the conformity between school curriculums and river education program, and the other is the stepwise program to enhance the interest.
