Summary This study aims to develop performance assessment methods for innovative structures applying advanced structural materials such as high strength steel. For this purpose, some experimental studies are carried out for beam-column joints, buckling behavior of high strength steel members, frame systems, ceiling elements, health monitoring systems, indoor responses during earthquakes and so on. The proposed assessment methods enable to evaluate the high performance of innovative structures and will contribute to generalize them.
