Summary The principal measure to reduce energy of tsunami is development and improvement of protection facilities such as the breakwater, seawall, water gate and other facilities to reduce energy of tsunami. There are several breakwaters which is under construction at the mouth of the bay of the port, and are many embankment to prevent tsunami inundation. If the large earthquake and tsunami occurs, these breakwaters and embankments are expected to reduce tsunami energy especially in the view point of reducing its velocity of flow. In this research, the evaluation method for velocity reduction effects caused by improvement of structure was examined by the tsunami numerical simulations.
