Summary There are 47 million houses in Japan, and the improvement of the energy performance of those houses is critical to reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emission in the domestic sector. Technologies for the energy retrofit in the envelope and the equipment have been targeted and tested of their affordability and effectiveness by the validation experiments and field measurement.
